Amada North America will spend more than $80 million to build a plant that will create sheet metal fabricating equipment like laser cutting machines.

The company said they looked across the east coast before selecting High Point. They now plan on staying for several years to come.

"After looking at all of the proprieties we seen that this one fit our needs the best, it's very large,” says Mike Guiren, COO of Amada North America. “We were hoping that we would find something that we could grow on in the next 30 to 50 years."

Construction is set to start in the next few months with the goal of having the facility opened in 2020 and they plan on hiring more than 200 people.
