A cold front moving southward through North Carolina Monday will bring a round of scattered storms across the region, some of which could be strong to even severe. We'll get some relief from the heat behind the front Tuesday, but it won't last long!

  • Cold front could bring strong to severe scattered storms.
  • A nice cool down will come Tuesday
  • By Wednesday, typical summer pattern will return.

After a hot weekend, Monday will feature another day of very warm and humid conditions as a cold front edges southward. Expect an increasing chance for showers and storms by this afternoon and into this evening as this front passes through the region. With a "Marginal" risk for severe weather in place, some storms may be capable of producing damaging winds and large hail.

Behind the front, winds will take a shift back to the northeast as high pressure builds just off the New England coast. A "wedge"-like set up Tuesday will bring a nice cool down (finally some relief from the heat!) with more cloud cover and additional chances for light showers. Temperatures for most should only manage to reach into the 70s --- a big difference from the low 90s many of us saw each day out of the weekend! The cooler weather, however, won't stick around for long. By Wednesday, the typical summer-like weather pattern resumes with highs in the upper 80s and low 90s and daily scattered shower and storm chances for the remainder of the week.
