NORTH CAROLINA -- The U.S. Geological survey reported a minor earthquake hit western North Carolina Sunday.

The earthquake which registered at 2.6 magnitude happened near Hays, North Carolina in Wilkes County, which is 50 miles northwest of Winston-Salem.

There have been no reports of damage.
