CHARLOTTE -- Dozens of Spectrum employees spent their Saturday giving back by rebuilding a Charlotte home.

The work is part of Charter Communications' first national philanthropic initiative.

The volunteers spent the day painting the walls, adding insulation in the attic, and re-doing the floors of the home.

Stephanie Edwards has lived in the home for 20 years, and says these repairs will make the house safer for her and her grandchildren.

"It means a lot. It really does. So they can just be, you know, be free. They come here, they have their friends here, they play basketball, you know. Everybody calls me granny in the neighborhood and their friends so, it means a lot," Edwards says.

The initiative is partnered with Rebuild Together of Charlotte.

The goal is to remodel 50,000 homes by 2020.
