Tropical development in the Gulf of Mexico could make a mess of the Memorial Day weekend. Low pressure is developing near the east coast of the Yucatan and is expected to drift into the eastern Gulf over the weekend. The Hurricane Center is giving this system a 90% chance of development. It will likely be a depression by later Friday then a named storm by Saturday or Sunday. If it develops, that name will be "Alberto". Anyone with travel plans to the Gulf coast this weekend should monitor this system very closely. The graphic shows the projected path from several computer models. Here at home, tropical moisture will lead to rain that could be heavy each day this weekend with good rain chances continuing through next week. Stay tuned folks!
