FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- A Fort Bragg veteran is recovering in the hospital after authorities say she was stabbed more than 30-times.

Police say 30-year-old Liv Abreu was pregnant when she was attacked Tuesday in New York.

She was stabbed in her stomach. Abreu is expected to live, but her unborn baby did not survive the attack.

Authorities searched for Abreu's live-in boyfriend, but he later turned himself in. He is now facing charges including attempted murder and assault.

Abreu served with Fort Bragg as a human resources specialist and paratrooper before moving to New York City.
