GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The search for a missing Greensboro man who fell overboard a cruise ship in Florida is being suspended. 

  • Brian Lamonds, 50, of Greensboro, North Carolina is missing.
  • Reportedly went overboard from the Carnival Paradise.
  • It happened 85 miles west of Fort Myers, Florida.

The Coast Guard had been looking for 50-year-old Brian Lamonds who was reported missing Tuesday morning after the ship was nearly 85 miles from Fort Myers.

They issued a statement in regards to suspending the search saying in part: "suspending a search is one of the most difficult decisions we have to make as first responders, and it is never made lightly.”

Coast Guard Key West received a call at approximately 10 a.m. Tuesday from the cruise ship stating the man was missing and reportedly went overboard from the Carnival Paradise.

Lamonds is believed to have gone overboard about 85 miles west of Fort Myers, Florida.

It is unknown what caused him to go overboard at this time.
