ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. -- Rockingham County is in recovery mode one month after a tornado ripped up an 18-mile stretch through Ruffin and Williamsburg.

  • 50 people in county suffered damage to their homes
  • FEMA is in town to help
  • Two disaster recovery centers are open in Reidsville and Greensboro

More than 50 people in the county suffered damage to their homes.

FEMA is in town to help and they urge you to register with them if you were affected.

"Once the registration is complete, the next step is scheduling a home visit by a FEMA inspector and that can happen usually in a span of ten days, maybe less after a person has registered and that process is underway," said Pam Saulsby, a FEMA spokesperson.

Two disaster recovery centers are open in Reidsville and Greensboro. You have to register with FEMA before visiting the centers.
