BURLINGTON, N.C. -- Burlington police issued an AMBER Alert Tuesday morning for a four-month-old girl only to cancel it a short time later.
- Incident started in Burlington around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.
- Ruben Hernandez is now in custody.
- Child was unharmed.
The incident started with a domestic call just after midnight in the 500 block of South Ireland Street where officers said 18-year-old Ruben Hernandez assaulted the child's mother and took the couple's daughter, Eliana Serrato.
Investigators were able to track Hernandez to a home in Gibsonville where he was taken into custody and the girl was recovered unharmed.
Hernandez is now in the Alamance County Jail.
He’s charged with assault on a female, assault in the presence of a minor and misdemeanor child abuse.
The AMBER Alert was canceled around 5:30 a.m.
