WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A Winston-Salem police officer is facing felony animal cruelty charges in Davidson County.

The sheriff's office says they got a call and watched video of Richard Workman shaking and throwing a small dog on Wednesday.

Deputies took the dog to the vet where it was found to be healthy. It's now with a foster parent.

Workman is due in court July 5.
