ASHEBORO, N.C. -- Business owners in Asheboro are left with a lot of unanswered questions and broken glass after a pellet gun shooter vandalizes restaurants and shops downtown.

  • At least four businesses hit, some more than once
  • No suspect(s) as of yet
  • Business owners are finding pellets inside business

Owner of J. Brewer & Co. Hair Studio says for her it started last week.

"About a week ago we opened up on a Tuesday morning [and] one of the windows was shot," Jennifer Brewer said.

After finding a pellet nearby her shattered salon window, she reported the incident to police. At the time, Brewer assumed it was just a random act of vandalism.

"We came in the next week on a Monday morning and the second window shot out and another pellet. At this time there was something going on," she said. "It’s very baffling because the intent was not to burglarize because it was one shot. It was one shot one day, a week later one shot. There's absolutely no logical explanation as to why someone would do this.”

At least four other businesses in Asheboro were hit overnight Sunday into early Monday morning. The owner at Bia’s Restaurant says this past attack is at least the fifth or sixth time her restaurant has been targeted. She’s had to replace at least five windows on top of the latest ones that were damaged early this week.

Asheboro police say they are looking for a vehicle of interest spotted on surveillance video. There is no suspect or person of interest at this time.
