A large rain storm currently located over the Mississippi River will track slowly toward the Carolinas tonight. As a result, areas of rain are expected to spread across the region by mid-morning Monday. Initially, the rain will start off spotty and light. However, heavier rain is set to arrive later Monday night, and then continue through early Tuesday. In fact, soaking rain of about an inch or more is likely for all of Central NC. Now, a few rumbles of thunder can't be rule out, but any severe weather will pass well to the south of the Triad.

Lingering clouds and even a spotty shower will occur on Wednesday. Then, another quick shot of rain is not out of the question Thursday before sunny and pleasant weather arrives for Friday and next weekend.
