Your morning commute is about to get easier once the west side of the Greensboro Urban Loop opens.

NCDOT leaders say the work is almost complete, it’s just left with the final touches.

Mike Fox with North Carolina Board of Transportation says they are finishing up some of the signings the markings on the road, and  there is some curb and gutter work that needs to be done.

Once complete, the 4 mile stretch from Bryan Blvd to Battleground Ave will help ease traffic, especially during rush hour.

The loop is designed give to improve access to the airport. "It enhances access options for transportation deliveries that are critically important to manufactures ... it is really an impressive footprint when somebody is accessing the value of accessibility to our employment center, ” says chairman of the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority Steve Showfety.

DOT says this section of the interstate cost about $123 million. Construction has already started on the next section, from Battleground Ave to Lawndale Drive. The loop is scheduled to open in the next 10 days.
