TRIAD -- A man initially hit with four charges following a chase Monday evening through Davidson and Forsyth Counties is now looking at more than 80 counts of 10 different charges.

Investigators believe Jon Carroll has been a prominent distributor of opioids throughout the Triad and that he's been acquiring them using fake IDs and forged prescriptions.

Authorities say that was what he was doing Monday night at Thomasville Family Pharmacy and it prompted an hour-long chase, during which officers say Carroll deliberately attempted to hit multiple police cars.

In addition to assault with a deadly weapon and fleeing to elude, Carroll is now also charged with dozens of drug and fraud charges, including trafficking, forgery, and identity theft.

Investigators say he's a suspect in similar crimes in Randleman, King and Guilford County.
