REIDSVILLE, N.C. -- Two teens were involved in a Reidsville shooting, with one dead.

Investigators say the shooting appears to be part of an ongoing problem between the two young men.

According to the Sheriff Sam Page, the two teens involved had ongoing problems, and Wednesday night’s incident stemmed from one of the boys trying to approach the other.

Authorities say 18-year-old Dylan Christian, who lives on Dover Circle, drove over to 18-year-old Noah Belton’s house on Cleburne Court with his dad.

Officials say when Christian approached the house, Belton came outside and shot Christian with a shotgun.

After he shot him, Christian left the house with his dad, and Belton went back into his house where officials believe he took his own life.

Authorities say this is a tragedy that's affecting the whole community.

"I'll never see my son again. I'll never be able to hold him and tell him that I love him and he'll never see his nephew grow. He'll never be able to go fishing again with his friends,” said Tracy Nettles, Belton’s mother.

“Anytime we have a child or young person that dies due to violence, particular one of our students or one of our children, it bothers everybody. And it affects the immediate person, but it also affects the school it affects the community,” said Page.

Authorities say Christian is currently recovering from non-life threatening injuries.
