CHATHAM COUNTY, N.C. -- Residents of the Johnson Mobile Home Park in Siler City want Chatham County commissioners to know what they’re going through as their mass eviction creeps up on them.

One hundred people are losing their trailers now that Mountaire Farms owns the land where their homes sit which will become the site of a new poultry processing plant.

Community advocates are helping those impacted search for affordable housing options while trying to get compensation for their loss from Mountaire Farms.

The company has agreed to remove five months of rent as well as move the eviction date to July.

County commissioners say the county manager should work with the poultry company and the advocacy group “The Hispanic Liaison.”
