GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The nonprofit, American Association of University Women, is providing tips and approaches for women in business to negotiate fair pay.

The organization hosted a seminar on wage equality that touched on the wage gap, methods to figure out how much they should be paid and how to quantify their value as an employee.

"We want to help empower women, which is one of the goals of AAUW, to negotiate for their appropriate salaries that they deserve. We want to help them figure out what they're worth,” said Libby Hale, the president of the Greensboro branch of AAUW.

Studies have found the discrepancies in pay are worse for women of color and transgender women.

The program was arranged by AAUW, in conjunction with the commission on the status of women and the City of Greensboro.
