NORTH CAROLINA -- Low pressure moving across North Carolina could produce a few strong storms late Saturday night.

The Storm Prediction Center had placed part of the state under a "slight risk" for severe storms but has since downgraded the threat to a "marginal risk."

While a large scale severe weather outbreak is not likely, a few storms could produce strong wind gusts and hail in addition to brief downpours and lightning.

The highest chance for storms will come between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. across the Piedmont from the Triad to the Triangle.  The Sandhills and eastern North Carolina will see the highest chance for storms from midnight. through 4 a.m.

If a Severe Thunderstorm Warning is issued for your location, you should seek shelter on the lowest floor of a sturdy building away from windows.

Any storms that form late Saturday night should come to an end before sunrise Sunday morning.
