MT. ULLA, N.C. -- After a volunteer embezzled thousands of dollars from the West Rowan band boosters club, the band was unsure if they would be able to make their competition trip to Williamsburg they had been planning for more than a year.

But thanks to the community, the trip will go on.

Through fundraisers, GoFundMe accounts, and reaching out to the community, in just a month, they raised nearly $30,000 for the trip.

"With them being kids, with this happening, there’s nothing really they could have done,” says Band Director Nathan Bowman. “So on behalf of them, just thank you. There really are no words.”

The band leaves for the competition on April 20th.
