GREENSBORO, N.C. -- High school students in Greensboro want to make sure their classrooms are safe after a school shooting in Parkland, Florida that left 17 people dead.

Grimsley students attended Tuesday night's City Council meeting, asking for support.

Students are planning another walk-out protest. This time, its with the national "Never Again" movement next week, honoring the victims of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High and bringing attention to school safety.

"We want to make sure that this problem does not go away. We want to make sure this isn't a one or two time thing. This is something we want to continue until we see changes are made,” said Darien Kenner, a Grimsley student.

Omnia Hassan, another Grimsley student, said: "As the representative body for students all across the nation, we want collectively to be heard not just as us as individuals."

Students plan to walk out on March 14 for a total of 17 minutes to honor the 17 victims.
