Thursday was another day of record warmth around the region. The official Greensboro high was 76, breaking the previous record of 74. Once again, many areas in North and South Carolina managed to break 80......very impressive for February.

Today, a cold front has edged into the region from the north, making for a challenging high temperature forecast. Highs this afternoon might fail to reach 60 in the northern part of the area while the southern half of North Carolina pushes well into the 70s again.

A cold front, which has been essentially stationary through the week over the Plains and Ohio Valley, will finally move eastward this weekend. A few showers could glance into the area Saturday, especially in the foothills. But most of us will remain warm and dry with highs well into the 70s.

Sunday will then feature very good chances of some showers as the front actually moves into the region. A trailing piece of energy then looks to move through, so I will maintain some rain chances into Monday.

Later next week, Tuesday looks dry with shower chances returning Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures next week will be cooler than this week, but still a bit above average.

Longer-term, the weather pattern will likely become significantly colder as we progress deeper into early March. So no, winter is not finished.
