TRIAD – Recently, several schools across the Piedmont Triad has had to respond to a threat or report of a weapon. In most of these cases, investigators found there weren't any truth to the threats, but officers tell us they expected more calls for these type of offenses after the school shooting in Florida.

A psychologist says in some cases this is how students are dealing with trauma.

"Our children, our children in school we've been telling them to look at for what's been going on around them. To be watchful of things that might be potentially dangerous,” said child psychologist, Dr. Janet Boseovski. “So they're doing that and given again that they've experienced all of this horrible news about this trauma, they are reacting in a substantial way towards that trauma."

She says that students may feel helpless for a few weeks. If it persists parents should seek counseling for their children.
