WORLDWIDE — The wait is over for what many believe is a ground breaking moment in movie history.

The biggest budget film to feature a black cast and represent African culture comes with all the incredible effects and rich storytelling Marvel is famous for.

And for many turning out on opening night, “Black Panther” comes with an extra powerful meaning.

"It means you can save the world. It means you matter," said writer Evan Narcisse.

Narcisse knows the story as well as anyone — He's a Black Panther comic author.

He welcomes fans with autographs and encouragement that the film offers far more than superhero thrills.

"It's a powerful metaphor for what you can do in the world and I think this movie executes that on a really awesome level."

The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, one of many hot spots with sold out screenings Thursday night and through the weekend.

"We've got record presales for this film, for a comic book film which is super exciting because it's a great film to break a record with," said Drafthouse's creative manager Bridgete Garraway.

Black Panther could sell more movie tickets than “Thor,” “Captain America” and many others in the Marvel crew.

The cultural significance is unignorable and reviews couldn't be much better.

All that buzz leads to fans showing their support where movie makers want to see it most, at the box office.

"The better this does the better it is for everybody I'm just happy for the cash register man, got to be real," said Hops & Heroes Cameron Hawkins.
