GREENSBORO -- Greensboro Police say they expected things to be tense at schools following the mass shooting in Florida.

What they didn't expect was rumors of a gun at a school.

Investigators say they started noticing a high volume of calls about someone with a gun at Grimsley High School spreading across social media.

Deputy Chief Mike Richey says they're not sure where the rumor started.

"That's not our number one goal," he said. "We're not sitting here to see who started this because the belief was it probably started out of true concern and worry based on the world events."

More officers are expected to be at Grimsley Friday.
