SURRY COUNTY, N.C. -- A good Samaritan stopped to pull the driver out of a burning tractor trailer on U.S. Highway 52 in Surry County Wednesday.

One 18-wheeler jackknifed outside Mount Airy before another one came along and crashed into a bridge behind it, catching fire.

Firefighters got the flames out pretty quickly but crews had to close the highway down for hours to clear the scene.

They left the burned trailer in the median until it can be cleared Thursday.
