GREENSBORO -- There are more unsolved homicide cases in Greensboro than there are detectives to work on them.

The city has had 41 murders since January and only 14 investigations have led to an arrest.

Among the pile of the unsolved murders is 18-year-old Kate-Lynn Simmons who was killed in June. Investigators believe she was an innocent bystander.

"I don't think Kate-Lynn was involved in any type of criminal activity, but I do think the people around her were involved in criminal activity, which may have led to this,” says Detective Richard Montgomery. “I do not feel at all that Kate-Lynn was targeted in any way."

Simmons' case is one of three cases Detective Montgomery is overseeing. He says anyone with information on Simmons' death can call his direct line at (336) 433-7354.
