HIGH POINT --The city of High Point is considering a crackdown on crime and landlords may be footing the bill. City council is writing up an ordinance that would fine to landlords up to $500 if their properties have been visited by police several times.

"We hope we never get to a fee. The ordinance is not designed to do that,” says At-Large Council Member, Latimer Alexander. “It is designed to work as a partnership with the property owner to help make our neighborhoods and community safer."

The ordinance is currently being written by the legal department in High Point. It is still in the early stages. Council won’t likely hear on it until January.
