Warm temps and sunshine are expected to continue through the weekend. Despite some increased cloud cover and a few orographically induced mountain showers Saturday, Sunday should see dry conditions across the state.

Maria is the wild card for forecast trends through next week. Coastal NC will likely see some impacts from Maria. From the OBX to our southern beaches, dangerous rip currents, increased wave action and gusty winds should be the norm. For the Outer Banks (OBX), ocean overwash is going to be a probability through those areas with diminished, or no, dune protection. So, heads up for flooding potential, next week, in those areas.

The general forecast expectation is for Maria to remain off the coast. But, a closer shave to the NC coast could increase cloud cover and winds inland. Our mountains are less likely to see an impacts; however, small inland, from Maria, worth keeping an eye on the storm.
