HIGH POINT -- The driver who left her car moments before a train slammed into it, and who police were investigating in a hit and run, has turned herself in.
Jeseace Quick, 25, of Kannapolis, met with the High Police Department on Thursday morning and confirmed she was the driver seen fleeing her car in the incident captured on video.
Police have charged her with no operator's license and a railroad crossing violation by citation.
The incident happened Tuesday afternoon just before 2 at a railroad crossing at Pendleton Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.
Officials say the driver abandoned the car and ran away when it became trapped by the crossing arms signaling a train was coming.
The train plows through the car sending it flying off the tracks.
No injuries were reported.
State law says that a driver must remain at the scene of accident involving a vehicle where the property damage is more than $1,000, and the driver must speak to authorities.
