FORSYTH COUNTY - The new state budget finally gives school district hard numbers on this year's funding so they can hire for the open positions they'll be able to afford.

Winston-Salem Forsyth County schools held a job fair Saturday drawing more than a 100 applicants for 75 spots the district plans to fill.

Educators were disappointed to see another state budget that doesn't raise teacher pay, but they say they'll make the most of the resources they get.

"We know we're going to meet our district goals,” Paula Wilkins of WSFCS said. “We're going to make sure that a child has a quality teacher in every classroom. We have to make that a priority. That, aside from the budget, was our focus."

North Carolina teacher salaries rank 42nd in the nation.
