RALEIGH, N.C. – North Carolina’s only non-profit dedicated to make the arts accessible to kids and adults with disabilities is hosting a showcase doing just that. For 34 years, Arts Access has advocated for the rights of those living with disabilities, working hard to try and educate arts organizations about the benefits of inclusion and inclusive programming.

From May 3 until May 16, the non-profit organization will host a series of 6 arts events across the state called a Series of Fortunate Events (SOFE), highlighting art in all its forms. Created by children and adults with disabilities, the events will showcase music, theatre, comedy, a film screening, gala, and art exhibition.

One in five North Carolinians has a disability, showing the urgent need for inclusion of 20 percent of the population. Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair has an In Depth look at the showcase, stories of those with disabilities and the struggles they face daily, and how they’re all working to bring about change.
