RALEIGH -- MerleFest 2018's official festival lineup was announced this week, and this year there are some big named national and local musicians taking to the stage.

Legendary artist like Kris Kristofferson, Jamey Johnson, Robert Earl Keen, The Devil Makes Three, Balsam Range and the Atlanta Pops Orchestra Ensemble will all perform during the festival held on April 26- 29.

MerleFest was founded back in 1988 in memory of guitarist Eddy Merle Watson, the son of the late American music legend Doc Watson.

Over the years, the music celebration has grown, offering a unique blend of country, bluegrass, folk, country and old-time classics. The festival is a fundraiser helping raise money for scholarships, projects and other educational needs.

Our Caroline Blair sat down the bluegrass band Sideline, for a listen at just how special the music at this festival really is.
