Katie Husband joined the Spectrum News Triad newsroom and WXLV ABC-45 in August 2014 as the evening reporter.

She began her career in July 2011 as a multimedia journalist at WICZ FOX-40 in Binghamton, New York. During her time there she covered the massive flooding events from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. She then moved into the radio news industry later that same year at Cayuga Radio Group's News/Talk WHCU station in Ithaca, New York. There she covered local government elections where the youngest mayor in the United States was elected to office. Katie also filled in as anchor for the hour-long Evening Newswatch and co-anchored the Saturday Morning Newswatch shows. Katie loved the job but missed capturing stories with video. In August 2012, Katie started at Spectrum News' Corning newsroom. There she covered murder trials, massive manufacturing layoffs, local agriculture growth and NASCAR races at Watkins Glen International.

Katie is a graduate of Broome Community College where she earned her Associates of Science in Communications and Media Arts in 2009. She then graduated from State University of New York College at Oswego where she received her B.A. in Broadcasting and Mass Communication in 2011.

While at SUNY Broome she played both volleyball and lacrosse and was even a founding member of the college's women's lacrosse team. She also earned Phi Theta Kappa recognition. While at SUNY Oswego, Katie was involved with the college's newspaper, The Oswegonian and television station, WTOP-10. She was also an intern at NPR's affiliate WRVO-FM radio station.

Originally from Upstate New York, Katie is excited to be living in the Tar Heel State. In her spare time, she loves traveling, staying active at the gym or outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
