ELAINA O'CONNELL

Elaina O’Connell joined Spectrum News in July 2014 as a Multimedia Journalist. Before joining the Greensboro newsroom, she was a reporter, fill-in anchor, and reporter at the NBC affiliate in Columbia, Missouri.

While at KOMU 8 News she covered the Ryan Ferguson murder case, the rise of heroin overdoses in mid-Missouri, and several investigative pieces on a motel closing after a 16-year-old girl was murdered there.

Elaina graduated from the number one journalism school in the country, the Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri. She received her B.A. in Broadcast Journalism in 2014. She also minored in sociology.

A California native Elaina is happy to be back on the coast. After living in California, she moved to Seattle, Wa. and then to the St. Louis, Mo. Area. Now living in Greensboro, she loves exploring North Carolina. In her spare time she enjoys hanging out with her friends and family and going to live concerts.
