Eastern North Carolina has not hit 90 yet this year. That will likely change by this weekend.

A warm up begins Thursday afternoon as inland high temperatures top out in the low to mid 80s. Our beaches will see highs in the mid to upper 70s.

Thursday will feature plenty of sunshine through the day. However, we'll need to keep an eye on scattered storms that will develop in the afternoon across the western half of the state. A few of those storms could make it into eastern North Carolina between 7 p.m. and midnight.

Mostly sunny skies will return for Friday with high temperatures ranging from the mid 70s to near 80 at our beaches to the upper 80s inland.

The weekend will be even hotter with inland highs around 90 to the low 90s.
