ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. -- Thanksgiving is sneaking up on us next week, and for many residents in Onslow County still dealing with Florence recovery, it is a stressful time. That’s why the executive director of Onslow Community Outreach, Theo McClammy, is making this year’s Thanksgiving meal about fellowship.

  • Onslow Community Outreach Inc. helps 9,000 residents each year whether it be food, shelter, medical or dental assistance.
  • They provide meals to about 2,000 people in Onslow County each year.
  • They want people to sign up to help the organization on days other than holidays.

“We look forward to bringing volunteers together, people in our community who are perhaps contractors who are away from home, military people, as well as people who have very modest incomes, some people in our community are still living in motels,” said McClammy.

Onslow Community Outreach Inc. helps 9,000 residents each year whether it be food, shelter, medical or dental assistance, as well as the Christmas Cheer program. They provide meals to about 2,000 people in Onslow County each year. This Thanksgiving, they are planning to provide 900 meals for those in need, and 600 of those will be served with their mobile food trucks.

While they have enough volunteers on Thursday, they want people to sign up to help the organization on days other than holidays. They are also still collecting food, money and gas card donations to buy pies, hams for Christmas and more.
