WILMINGTON, N.C. -- After a morning of active weather Tuesday, Wednesday will feature a quieter but cold day. Heavy rain will move in yet again Thursday, where another opportunity for a few severe storms may be possible.

  • Wednesday will feature overcast skies with a chilling northeasterly breeze
  • Highs across the coast will be well below average and only manage to top off in the upper 40s to low 50s
  • Amounts between one to two inches of additional rainfall will be possible through Thursday night

Wednesday will feature overcast skies with a chilling northeasterly breeze. Highs across the coast will be well below average and only manage to top off in the upper 40s to low 50s.

A few sprinkles will be possible throughout the day before an approaching low pressure system brings heavy rain back across the region beginning late Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Amounts between one to two inches of additional rainfall will be possible through Thursday night. Flash Flood Watches have been posted from I-40 northward along the coast. A few severe storms may also be possible Thursday with a "Marginal" risk in place for the majority of the coast.

By Friday through the weekend, sunshine will return as high pressure builds in from the south.
