NORTH CAROLINA -- Morehead City helped raise money for local victims of Hurricane Florence this weekend.

  • The seafood festival was canceled after the storm but replaced by a small one-day event
  •  "Amped Up For You-Tilities" featured live music, food, and local vendors
  • A portion of the event's proceeds will go to community members struggling to pay utility bills

The town's seafood festival was canceled after the storm but replaced by a small one-day event.

Saturday, the town hosted "Amped Up For You-Tilities", featuring live music, food, and local vendors.

Some residents treated the smaller festival as an opportunity to come together.

"I think we just realized how much our community is in need," said Leighann Whitehead. "People are willing to donate to the different vendors and make it a point to come out."

A portion of the event's proceeds will go to community members struggling to pay utility bills following Hurricane Florence.
