WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Trick-or-treaters will be lucking out with a "spook"-tacular forecast this Halloween. Expect another day of sunshine and dry conditions before the weather becomes increasingly more unsettled to end the work week.

High pressure over the eastern half of the state Wednesday will yield another dry, sunny forecast on Halloween with warming temperatures. Many should be slightly above average this afternoon as highs soar into the low 70s for most areas across the coast. Trick-or-treaters should be good to go this evening with mainly clear skies and temperatures holding in the low to mid 60s!

Scattered clouds will build in overnight ahead of an approaching cold front that will move through Friday. Ahead of that, Thursday will feature the warmest weather we will see this week, with highs expected to warm to near 80 under partly to mostly cloudy skies. An isolated shower may be possible late Thursday afternoon with a much better chance for rain and maybe a few storms arriving Friday.

Planning for the weekend? The rain from Friday's cold front should clear to the east of our region by early Saturday morning as high pressure builds in behind it, resulting in the return of sunshine and cooler temperatures over the weekend.
