News outlets report that it happened at Perquimans County High School on Monday.

Matt Cheeseman with the school district says a ninth-grade girl brought in the bar made with Captain Crunch cereal and cut it up into quarters. It's unclear if she herself was sickened. The hospitalized students were checked for nausea and released the same night.

The sheriff's office says it "has taken out charges on the suspect.'' Cheeseman says all parents and guardians in the district were notified, and the staff will discuss what happened with all grade levels this week.
