WILMINGTON, N.C. -- A whole community is out of their homes.

  • The hurricane left several apartments with mold
  • Residents say they were given about a week to move out
  • More volunteers are needed to help resident relocate

The Glen, off of South College Road, is condemned after Florence left several apartments molded. Residents say they had about a weeks' notice to move out.

"I thought I would live and die here. I really did. I'm getting up in age a little bit, and it came as a shock when the place got condemned and these people helping me move have been absolutely wonderful. You know, it’s taken a toll on everybody," resident Julius Taylor Hobbs said. He says he’s lived in the complex for 20 years.

Volunteers from Cape Fear Volunteer Center are helping residents move out, but they say they need more help.  If you have a moving truck, extra boxes, or just spare time on Sunday or Monday, the community would appreciate it.
