Despite the recent dry stretch of weather, some rivers along the North Carolina coast and farther inland remain at major flood stage. Expect an additional couple days of mainly rain-free conditions here in Wilmington before widely scattered showers and storms return late in the weekend along a cold front.

Expect another helpful day of sunshine and dry weather Friday with seasonable temperatures. Major flooding is still in an issue, particularly along the Cape Fear river and the Neuse River, which is set to crest sometime late Friday night into early Saturday morning in Kinston. Flood Warnings continue to drop off county by county but still remain in effect from Goldsboro south into Wilmington.

A cold front moving through late Saturday may bring some light showers for the northern third of the region. Expect additions showers and storms Sunday into early next week as this front begins to stall. While we'll likely see the return of some rain across the region, these storms should be widely scattered and aren't expected to produce to much in terms of rainfall. In fact, through Wednesday morning (over the next 5 days), we should only see about 0.01" to 0.75" tops.
