NORTH CAROLINA – Duke Energy says there could be anywhere from one to three million people without power due to Hurricane Florence.

Executives say if you’re riding out the storm near the coast you should not expect to have power back for days or even weeks.

Duke Energy President David Fountain says this is the largest deployment they’ve ever had in the company’s history with 20,000 people on standby.

 "The current forecast calls for us to be prepared for a multi-week event and we here at Duke Energy are prepared to restore power as quickly and safely as possible,” said Fountain.
