As we head into Labor Day weekend and say goodbye to the meteorological summer, the summertime heat looks like it's here to stay through the beginning of September.

Heat and humidity will continue Friday and into the upcoming humidity coupled with isolated to scattered chances for afternoon storms.

Friday will feature another day near 90-degrees for many areas up and down the North Carolina coast. Scattered storms will possibly develop along the seabreeze, with best chances located for the northern coast and areas like the Outer Banks. Lows will be muggy in the mid to upper 70s.

Labor weekend plans? Outdoor plans should be okay. While we'll look for isolated to scattered storms each day of the holiday weekend, they will remain fairly widespread and hit-or-miss. Many areas likely won't see any rain at all throughout the next three days. Highs will remain somewhat steady in the upper 80s.

Get used to the summer heat! It's here to stay for a while.
