ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. -- A New River Station Marine charged with killing his roommate is expected in court Monday.

  • Authorities arrested 21-year-old Javier Garzon Sunday night.
  • They say he stabbed 24-year-old David Rutherford.
  • Garzon reportedly left the body in the backyard of a home on Parnell Street in Hubert.

Authorities arrested 21-year-old Javier Garzon Sunday night, hours after they say he stabbed 24-year-old David Rutherford.

Garzon reportedly left the body in the backyard of a home on Parnell Street in Hubert.

Garzon was in the home when deputies arrived.

According to a statement, Garzon and Rutherford lived together at New River Station and were house sitting the home on Parnell Street for a friend.

Garzon is now being held at the Onslow County Jail without bond.
