NORTH CAROLINA -- The Centers for Disease Control is keeping a close eye on a measles outbreak affecting several states across the country, including North Carolina.

From January to July of this year, 107 people in 21 states have been contaminated with the virus.

Last year, 118 people were affected in 15 states.

Measles is an airborne virus and most commonly contracted through coughing and sneezing.
