Typical summer weather is in the forecast for Tuesday. With plenty of sunshine through the first half of the day, afternoon temperatures will warm to the upper 80s around the Triangle to near 90 in the Sandhills. A few thunderstorms could then develop with the heat of the afternoon.

While not everyone will see a storm Tuesday afternoon, those that develop could be a bit strong. We'll need to watch for storms that could produce localized downpours, frequent lightning, and gusty winds. The highest chance for the storms will come after 3 p.m. Most of the storms that develop should come to an end by around sunset.

Very little chance for afternoon storms is expected Wednesday and Thursday. The late day storm chances will return by Friday and the weekend.

High temperatures will warm to the low 90s around the second half of this week.
