BLADEN COUNTY, N.C. -- Bladen County officials found the body of a 57-year-old man who went missing Sunday morning in White Lake.

• John Junior Godwin drowned in White Lake.
• Godwin, of Benson, went swimming alone.
• His body was found Sunday afternoon.

The body of John Junior Godwin, of Benson, was recovered from the lake Sunday afternoon near Goldston Pier.         

Officials said Godwin came to the lake with friends but went out swimming alone.

Boats and dive crews searched the water near the end of the pier for several hours looking for Godwin.

His body was found around 3:30 p.m. in about seven feet of water.
