Our air conditioners will be working non-stop for the next few days. More hot and humid weather is expected through the weekend.

Highs temperatures for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will top out in the low to mid 90s across eastern North Carolina. The sea breeze will keep highs along the beaches in the upper 80s to near 90.

The humidity will make it feel hotter each afternoon. Heat index values for Friday and the weekend afternoons could range between 100 and 105. Be sure to drink plenty of water to keep hydrated, take breaks, and make sure pets have plenty of shade and fresh water.

Temperatures will not cool down very much overnight. Lows will briefly drop to the 70s during the very early morning hours.

Much of Friday and the weekend will be dry, but a few isolated storms are possible during the late afternoon and evening hours. Any storms that form could be strong with gusty winds, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours.
