RALEIGH, N.C. -- A helicopter flipped at the State Highway Patrol Training Center on Garner Road Tuesday afternoon.

Officials with SHP say two people were on board at the time of the crash.

The pilot, Trooper R. M. Collie, was treated locally, and passenger Clint Stone, Assistant Federal Security Director with TSA/Federal Air Marshal Service, was taken to Wake Med.

According to the pilot, the helicopter was taking off and got about five feet from the ground when the tail struck the ground and caused it to flip.

A news release says the pilot lost control of the aircraft and that caused it to come to rest of its side.

Officials say the chopper was a 1970 model.

The NTSB, FAA and the Patrol's Reconstruction Unit will be conducting an investigation into the incident.
